News regarding Hwy 33 from Kelowna, there is a small detour thru Goudie Rd, it adds around 15 min to the ride, but the road is in good shape, usually they don't have the construction going on Sundays, but just in case here is the article from Castanet.

For those who like a bit of adventure, I highly recommend the road from McCullogh thru Isabel Lake, its in great shape for GS riders and put a fresh layer of dirt on your bike.

Hwy 33 hairpin to close

Starting Wednesday, the hairpin corner on Highway 33 east of Kelowna will be fully closed until June 5.

It has previously been reduced to single-lane, alternating traffic while work is done on the route.

Shelley Duke of the Joe Rich Road Improvement Committee says traffic will be detoured via Goudie Road, with a pilot car.

Long delays are expected, and heavy trucks are advised to seek an alternate route east from the Okanagan.

The hairpin will be open at night, from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m., single lane, alternating.

Thanks for the road update Dan. I'm looking forward to this weekend. I've got about a dozen people who have committed to coming so far. I am expecting more, but it still seems like herding cats.

I'm curious about the road you mentioned from McCulloch thru Isobel Lake. Do you mean Idabel Lake? I can't find an Isobel Lake near that area in my BC Backroads Mapbook. If so, is that the Dale Creek FSR that cuts off of the 201 FSR south of McCulloch?

It sounds interesting. I'm always looking for new routes.

Cheers, Wayne

Gotcha! I'm quite familiar with McCulloch Rd and was planning to take it coming up. It's a nice ride and I'm glad to hear it's in good shape. I've seen that Dale Creek FSR on the map and was going to try it one of these days. Maybe not loaded with camping gear on Saturday.

I'm up to 17 members on my list so far, most coming for Sunday but it sounds as if a few of us will be there Saturday night. I'll give you another update on the headcount tomorrow evening.

Cheers, Wayne
