For those of you who are interested in a short ride, about an hour from Kamloops or an hour and a quarter from Kelowna. The Quilchena has an excellent Sunday Brunch and Sunday Buffet. The food is very good and varies week to week. One constant is the grass fed Douglas Lake ranch roast beef. There were side dishes of scalloped potatoes, roasted vegetables, a sea food dish, Greek salad, a variety of cheeses. Desserts included an assortment of fruit, black forest cake and other goodies. All fresh. The Quilchena was built in 1908 and tastefully restored. For fine dining and good wine list there is a white linen table cloth dining room. For more casual ,there is the saloon with comfortable stools, round tables and authentic bullet holes in the bar. The buffet is available at both. They have roast beef and Yorkshire pudding on Friday and Saturday.
The Sunday brunch is around noon and Buffet was between 4:00 and 7:00.

Good call on the Quilchena Hotel James.

Kathi and I have stayed there several times over the past 15 years or so. We always found the food to be excellent whether in the dining room or the pub. It's a great place for a quiet weekend. The rooms are very nice. All have vanities and sinks, and some have private bathrooms. There are a few that require you to share a bathroom down the hall. No TV's in the bedrooms or in the pub. We always found that a plus. We would spend our evening meeting other guests in the pub or the parlor and playing cards or scrabble. Maybe not what everyone is looking for but we always enjoyed it. Great ambiance.

We're not golfers but there's a nice little golf course right by the Hotel. For Kathi, the highlight was the riding stable. They offered horseback rides to guests only and they kept a stable of really nice horses. They were all "retired" ranch horses and they were very well trained and very well treated.

A great destination for lunch or a whole weekend. Thanks for reminding us. We need to get back there.
